Rockford IceHogs News Release
Bloomington, Ill.- It wasn't pretty, but winning on the road doesn't have to be. The Rockford IceHogs topped the Bloomington PrairieThunder 2-1 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Wednesday night. In an offensive struggle, it was a soft goal that was the difference in the game.
With the game tied 1-1, IceHogs center Mike Doyle made a nice move crossing the Thunder blue-line and partially fanned on his shot. Doyle did, however, get enough of it to get on net and Bloomington goalie Jeff Reynaert missed played the sliding puck at 9:16 of the final frame to put Rockford on top.
A former IceHogs skater put the PrairieThunder on the board first as defenseman Jarad Bourassa blasted home his first goal of the season on a power play at 8:01 of the opening period. Rockford tied the game late in the second period when winger Nicolas Corbeil picked the corner over the shoulder of Reynaert at 19:32 on the power play.
Hogs goalie Frederic Cloutier made 24 saves to earn his ninth win of the season while Reynaert made 24 in the loss. Rockford finished 1-for-5 on the power play while the PrairieThunder were 1-for-4.
