
Rockford renders Wizards powerless

Bismarck, ND- They say lightning never strikes in the same place twice, but the Rockford Lightning are an exception to that. Saturday night the Bolts completed a back-to-back sweep of the Dakota Wizards with a 120-109 victory in Bismarck.
Rockford got bench production from Marshall Phillips, who led the way with 28 points in the win. Ronnie Fields also chipped in 26 points, matching his season high. Cordell Henry and Jermaine Walker led the way in assists, each dishing off six in the contest. Keith Closs dominated the rebounding, hauling down eight total boards in the contest. Overall, the Lightning shot 54.1% from the floor and 63.6% from three-point land. Leading the scoring for Dakota was Bryant Notree, who tallied 22 points in the game. The Lightning earned six quarter points, but still trail the Great Lakes Storm in the Eastern Conference, who also had a six quarter point victory over the Gary Steelheads by a score of 100-88 on Saturday night.
Those two teams will meet in the Lightning's next home game on Monday, January 31. Rockford and Great Lakes met back on January 25 at the MetroCentre, with the Storm edging the Bolts 135-130 in overtime. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. Then, as part of a back-to-back homestand, the Lightning face the Gary Steelheads at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1. Rockford and Gary last met at the Genesis Center on January 12, with the Steelheads 105-104 victors.
