Rockford Falls In Third Straight

Peoria, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs fell to the Peoria Rivermen 3-1 in the first of three on the road on Wednesday at the Carver Arena.

It is the third straight loss for the 7-4-0-0 team.

Peoria's Trent Whitfield scored the game winner at 11:04 in the third period on a power play with helpers from Nicholas Drazenovic and Steve Reiger.

Then Reiger tacked on an empty-net goal at 19:45 in the third to seal the deal with a helper from Chris Porter

After a scoreless first frame, defenseman Jonas Junland scored his first goal in North America at 8:49 in the second period on the power play. Junland redirected a shot by Jeff Woywitka past Corey Crawford to take a 1-0 lead.

But then Bryan Bickell powerd a shot past Marek Schwarz at 12:29 to tie the score at one. Jake Dowell and Evan Brophey recorded the assists.

The IceHogs finished 0-for-7 and after taking the lead in the American Hockey League in power play goals, have gone 1-for-18 over the last three games. The Rivermen were 2-for-4 on the man advantage.

Schwarz took the win with 34 saves. Crawford had 33 staves in another strong performance.
