Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans will remain on home ice this weekend for Games three and four of the team's current six-game homestand.
Rochester's two-game weekend kicks off on Friday, November 7th as the Manitoba Moose roll into town for a 7:35 p.m. North Division matchup at The Blue Cross Arena. The game will be the third of eight scheduled meetings between the two teams this season and will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live.
In their previous meeting, the Amerks dropped a 4-1 decision to the Moose on October 18th at the MTS Centre. Rochester is 0-2-0-0 this season and is 15-22-1 all-time against the Vancouver Canucks' affiliate. Manitoba presently holds a second-place standing in the American Hockey League's North Division with an 8-2-0-0 record and 16 points.
The Amerks continue their homefront the following night as the Houston Aeros make their only trip to the Flower City for the first of two tilts this season. The 7:35 p.m. non-divisional contest can be heard live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live. The Amerks were 0-1-1-0 a year ago against the Aeros and are 3-8-3 all-time against the Minnesota Wild's affiliate.
The Amerks (1-9-0-0, 2 points) enter the week after suffering a pair of losses to North Division rivals this past weekend. Rochester is currently riding a four-game losing streak and has dropped nine of its last 10 games.
Rochester began the weekend falling short to the Toronto Marlies in a 5-2 decision Halloween night at The Blue Cross Arena to be followed with a 5-3 setback to the Hamilton Bulldogs Saturday to open its November schedule. Five different goal scorers in Drew Larman, Michal Repik, Michael Duco, Karl Stewart and Tanner Glass each contributed with a goal over the weekend.
Glass (3+3), along with second-year forward Kenndal McArdle (2+4) and rookie defenseman Jason Garrison (1+5) are locked in a three-way tie with six points apiece for the team lead. Garrison's six points currently ranks him 20th among AHL rookies while his five assists are a team best.
Karl Stewart found the back of the net for the fourth time this season to reclaim the team lead. Duco remains the league and team leader with 76 penalty minutes (PIM) with McArdle a distant second with 41 PIM for second on the team and 16th in the league, respectively.
McArdle, David Brine and Jacob Micflikier come into the weekend presently in the midst of three-game point streaks. Brine has picked up an assist in each of his last three outings, while McArdle has a goal to go along with a pair of helpers. Micflikier has racked up five points (1+4) in his last three appearances, with his most impressive performance coming in a three-point effort against Hershey on October 26th.
