Kelowna Rockets News Release
The Kelowna Rockets, BrainTrust Canada and M & M Performance are pleased to announce the winner of this year's Polaris Outlaw quad as part of a fund-raiser for BrainTrust Canada.
Vernon resident Krystin Kempton was drawn as the winner of the quad, donated by M & M Performance and driven by Rockets mascot Rockey Raccoon this season.
Kempton herself has a personal connection to brain injury as her mother suffers from short term memory loss after suffering from a brain aneurysm.
This year's fund-raiser saw the Rockets, M & M Performance, BrainTrust Canada and Rockets fans combine to raise $5,900 to go toward BrainTrust Canada's education and prevention programs for youth in the Okanagan.
"We are honoured to have been chosen by the Kelowna Rockets and M & M Performance as the charity of choice for this year's raffle for a Polaris Quad and are pleased to have raised $5,900 for our cause," said Magda Kapp, Director of Communications for BrainTrust Canada.
"Funds raised will be directed to brain injury education for youth as they are the highest risk. We promote making safe choices vs. impulsive ones, so reducing risks such as wearing your helmet for sports that involve speed is an absolute must, as it greatly reduces the chance for brain injury and other injuries."
It's the second year the Rockets have raffled off Rocky's quad, donated by M & M Performance.
"We're very pleased to partner with the Rockets and BrainTrust Canada again this year," said Ted Allen of M & M Performance. "We're a family run operation and we also value safety so this is a good fit for our business."
BrainTrust Canada is an Okanagan based community rehabilitation association dedicated to maximizing independence for individuals with brain injury, as well as increasing awareness of education to youth. For more information visit www.braintrustcanada.com.
