Rockers Win Third Straight Monday Night

Ashwaubenon, Wis. - The Green Bay Rockers beat the Madison Mallards, 5-4, in a close contest Monday.

The Rockers got on the board in the bottom of the first. Griffin Stevens grounded into a double play, but it scored Clayton Slack from third.

In the second, the Mallards took their first lead of the game. In his Madison debut, second baseman Grant Ross singled home a pair to make it 2-1.

Green Bay responded with two in the bottom of the second. Brett Blair doubled home Matt Scannell to tie it, and Tristin Garcia reached with an infield single, which scored Blair.

Catcher Carson Richter singled to tie the game at three in the third, and Ross worked a walk with the bases loaded to make it a 4-3 game.

That was the final run Madison scored in the ballgame. In the fifth, Danny Wuestenfeld came to the plate on a wild pitch, and Wuestenfeld scored the go-ahead run in the seventh on a fielder's choice by Scannell.

Kyle Stoddard pitched 61/3 innings of shutout baseball in relief of Chase Pelter. He allowed three hits, just one walk and struck out eight.

The Rockers look to sweep Madison on Tuesday in Ashwaubenon. Will Semb will start for Green Bay, with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m.
