Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release

Traverse City, MI - With Rockford's 1-0 loss to Kenosha Monday night, the Traverse City Pit Spitters keep their postseason streak alive, making their third straight appearance.

The 2019 and 2021 Northwoods League Champions will get the opportunity to defend their title. The Pit Spitters are the only team in Northwoods League history to win back-to-back championships, as there was no championship game played in 2020. Now they will try for three in a row.

The Pit Spitters are getting hot at the right time. At 23-8, the Pit Spitters have the third best record of any Northwoods League team in the second half of the season. They have already surpassed their win total from both halves of last season, when they won the championship.

The two-time defending champions will take on the Kalamazoo Growlers in the first round of the playoffs. Kalamazoo won the first half at 22-14 but are struggling in the second half with just 10 wins and 21 losses.

Game one against the Growlers will be in Kalamazoo on Sunday, August 14. Traverse City will host game two on Monday, August 15 and game three (if necessary) on Tuesday, August 16.

Tickets will go on sale starting Thursday, August 11 at 10:00 a.m. ET.
