
Rockers Drop Second Meeting Versus Rivets

Rockford, Ill. - The Green Bay Rockers dropped the second meeting of the season against the Rockford Rivets 6-2 on Saturday night as the Rockers now look to a two-game series against the Traverse City Pit Spitters.
The Rockers drop to 6-14 on the season while the Rivets improve to 10-10 as a four run seventh inning for the Rivets led them to earning the sweep over Green Bay.
The Rockers struck first off, an RBI groundout from Griffin Stevens, scoring Brendan Ryan from third as the Rockers took an early 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of the first.
Dylan Carter pitched a 1-2-3 inning to start his outing strong, as Green Bay remained on top 1-0 through the first inning.
Carter continued that momentum heading into the second, retiring the next three batters he faced, keeping his team on top 1-0 going into the third.
Despite Carter giving up his first hit of the game in the bottom of the third, the Rockers defense turned a double play to keep their lead as they led 1-0 heading into the fourth.
Owen Jackson scored on a wild pitch to after reaching on a leadoff single, extending the Rockers lead to 2-0 after four innings of play as Carter struck out the side to cap off four scoreless innings to start out his outing.
Rockford scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the fifth off a fielder's choice, and cut the lead in half, making it 2-1 heading into the sixth.
The Rivets tied the game on an RBI single in the sixth, but Carter retired the last two batters on strikeouts, sending the game tied at two apiece going into the seventh.
Rockford took their first lead of the night as they led by four runs after plating four runs across in the bottom of the seventh inning, leading 6-2 after seven innings.
Jacob Conover pitched a scoreless inning of relief in the eighth to keep it a 6-2 game heading into the ninth as the Rockers came back up to the plate down by four runs.
Despite a two-out double by Chase Hudson, to cap off his 2-2 day, a fly out ended the game giving the Rivets their second straight win.
The Rockers will now head to Traverse City to take on the Pit Spitters for the first time this season on Sunday. First pitch is set for 4:05 p.m. central time from Turtle Creek Stadium.
