
Former Lakeshore Chinook Cam Vieaux Debuts with the Pirates

Rochester, Minn. - Former Lakeshore Chinook Cam Vieaux made his Major League debut for the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday, June 17, 2022. Vieaux is the 293rd former Northwoods League player to reach the Major League level.
Vieaux, who played collegiately at Michigan State University, played for the Chinooks in 2014. He was drafted in the 6th round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Pirates.
In 2014 with the Chinooks, Vieaux appeared in five games and was 2-1 with a 2.89 ERA. He struck out 18 batters in 28.0 innings and pitched one complete game.
Vieaux began his professional career in 2016 with the West Virginia Black Bears of the Short-Season A New York-Penn League. In 14 games he was 2-2 with a 3.33 ERA. He struck out 52 batters in 67.2 innings while walking 21.
In 2017, Vieaux started the season in West Virginia and then was promoted, after 11 games to the Bradenton Marauders of the Hi-A Florida State League. Between the two clubs he was a combined 5-10 with a 3.82 ERA. He pitched in 141.1 innings and struck out 81.
Vieaux was back in Bradenton for the beginning of the 2018 season. After 10 games he moved up to the Altoona Curve of the AA Eastern League. For the season he appeared in 25 games and was 13-6 with a 3.68 ERA. He struck out a career-high 124 batters in 144.1 innings while walking 35.
In 2019, Vieaux started in Altoona and then was promoted again to the Indianapolis Indians of the AAA International League. He had pitched in 13 games in Altoona and finished with 13 more games with the Indians. Overall, he was 8-6 with a 3.50 ERA in 139.0 innings. He struck out 120 batters and walked 58.
The 2021 season saw a repeat of 2019 as he started in Altoona and ended in Indianapolis. He appeared in a total of 25 games and was 7-3 with a 5.28 ERA. He struck out 72 batters in 73.1 innings.
Prior to his call-up to the Pirates, Vieaux had pitched in 18 games in Indianapolis and was 3-0 with a 2.228 ERA. He had 23 strikeouts in 27.2 innings. In his Major League debut against the Giants, Vieaux entered the game in the 5th inning in relief and pitched 1.2 innings allowing no runs, on one hit while striking out three.
