New Britain Rock Cats News Release
New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats, AA Eastern League affiliate of the American League's Minnesota Twins, announced two roster moves this morning, each involving a Pitcher.
LHP Brian Forystek, a 28-year-old native of Palos Park, IL who was acquired by Minnesota as a minor league free agent in December of 2006, has been given his release. Originally selected by Baltimore in the 14th round of the 2000 Draft, Forystek compiled a 33-35 record over portions of eight professional seasons. The 6'1"/177-pound southpaw appeared in 16 games for the 2007 Rock Cats, posting a 1-1 record with 1 Save. He threw a total of 40 innings in New Britain, compiling a 4.72 ERA. The Rock Cats thank Mr. Forystek for his service in New Britain.
RHP Joshua Hill will arrive in New Britain today to fill the latest vacancy on the Rock Cats roster. A 24-year-old native of Armadale, Australia, the 6'2"/225-pound Jones spent the first half of the 2007 Season hurling for the Ft. Myers Miracle in the Single-A Florida State League. He made 17 total appearances for Ft. Myers - 14 out of the bullpen - prior to this promotion. Acquired by the Twins as a non-drafted free agent in February, 2001, Jones posted a 3-2 record and 3.00 ERA over 39 innings of work with the 2007 Miracle.
