Bowie Baysox To Host Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest Satuday, June 30th

BOWIE, MD - The Bowie Baysox, Class "AA" Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, in cooperation with the Old Bowie Town Grille, is partnering with Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. to host a Preliminary Round for the first-ever International Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest at Prince George's County Stadium (Bowie, MD) on Saturday, June 30th. "The Promised Land - Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest" will feature an Elvis Tribute Artist Contest with 22 Contestants, Elvis Look-Alike Contest, Elvis Tribute Show, and much more. Tickets will be $13 for adults (ages 11 and up) and $10 for children (ages 6-10). Tickets will are available by calling the Baysox ticket office at (301) 464-4865 or on day of event at the Baysox Ticket Office. Tickets are also available to order online at www.baysox.com.

The Promised Land Contest Winner will earn a slot in the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Qualifying Rounds in Memphis, TN during Elvis Week 2007 and a chance to compete for the International Title. The winner will also win hotel accommodations in Memphis, TN during Elvis Week 2007 and $500. The Second Place Winner will receive $250, and the Third Place Winner will receive $100. Judges will be looking for the "best representation of the Elvis legacy in talent, appearance, performance, stage presence and each contestant's overall tribute to Elvis." The best overall performer at the finals competition will be named the "2007 Elvis Tribute Artist of the Year." It is estimated that there are more than 50,000 performing Elvis Tribute Artists worldwide.
In November, 2006 and for the first time ever, Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. (EPE) announced that it would launch an official Elvis tribute artist competition and a worldwide search for contestants for the "Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest. Contestants will be selected at Preliminary Elvis Tribute Artist Contests, like The Promised Land Contest, along with fairs, and festivals around the globe. The qualifying rounds and finals will be held in Memphis, TN during the 30th Anniversary Elvis Week. Elvis Week, to be held August 11-19, 2007, will mark the 30th anniversary of Elvis' death on August 16, 1977 and is expected to be the largest commemoration ever. Each year, tens of thousands of people arrive in Memphis to celebrate the superstar's life with concerts, charity events, dances, fan club activities and much more.
"We expect The Promised Land - Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest to attract Elvis Tribute Artists, Elvis Fans, and Curiosity Seekers from across the Eastern Seaboard and beyond. Bowie, Maryland and Prince George's County Stadium provide the perfect location to create one of the largest Preliminary ETA contests in the world," said Contest Coordinator Bob Thompson. "The Bowie Baysox Baseball Club hosts only a select few special events during the regular baseball season and The Promised Land Event has all the ingredients to be our most successful special event to date," said Baysox General Manager Brian Shallcross.
