New Britain Rock Cats News Release
New Britain, CT - Right-Fielder Leonard Davis lined a 9th-inning 2-out single to centerfield, driving in Jesus Valdez with the run that enabled visiting Harrisburg to defeat the Rock Cats, 2-1, this afternoon at New Britain Stadium. The contest was a pitchers' duel from the High Noon start, with both New Britain's David Bromberg (7 IP, 4 H, 9 K, 1 Earned Run) and Harrisburg's Jeff Mandel (5.1 IP, 2 H, 1 Earned Run) on their respective games, to the delight of the 4,696 in attendance.
New Britain reliever Santos Arias (0-3) surrendered the winning hit and took the loss; the Senators' Adam Carr (2-0) picked up the Win by pitching a spotless 8th; his Harrisburg's bullpen mate, Drew Storen, notched his third Save of the young season when he shut down the Rock Cats in the final frame.
New Britain DH Rene Tosoni continued his hot hitting (.365) with a 1st inning RBI single and a 9th inning lead-off hit. Those two safeties were half the total the Rock Cats posted on the day. Harrisburg collected 7 total hits, with Davis and OF Bradley Coon accounting for two apiece; Coon's two-out single in the 6th inning knocked in the visitors' first Run, tying the score, 1-1.
The Rock Cats opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the 1st when lead-off hitter Ben Revere singled to right field, stole second base, and scored on Tosoni's base hit.
With the Loss, the Rock Cats fell to 4-11, while Harrisburg climbed to 6-10.
