
Senators Rally For 2-1 Win On Friday Afternoon

In a rare Friday afternoon game, the Harrisburg Senators rallied from a 1-0 deficit to slip past the New Britain Rock Cats 2-1. The Sens improve to 6-10 with the win, their fourth in five games while the Rock Cats dropped to 4-11.
Adam Carr picked up the win in relief, improving to 2-0 on the young season while Drew Storen notched his third save in as many opportunities. Jeff Mandel started for the Sens and had his best start of the season going 5.1 innings and allowing just two hits and an unearned run. Not to be outdone, New Britain starter David Bromberg when seven innings allowing four hits and a run before turning the game over to eventual loser Santos Arias.
Trailing 1-0, the Sens tied the game in the sixth inning when Sean Rooney led off with a double. After being sacrificed to third base, he scored on a two-out single off the bat of Brad Coon tying the game at 1-1. The game moved into the ninth inning when with two outs and no one on base, Jesus Valdez doubled and scored on a single off the bat of Leonard Davis.
In the last of the ninth, the Cats Rene Tosoni led off with a single but with one out, was doubled off of first base on a line drive to end the game. Coon and Davis both had two hits in the game for the Sens.
The series continues Saturday night with LH Aaron Thompson on the mound for the Sens opposed by RH Carlos Gutierrez. First pitch is at 6:35pm with the pre-game show on 1460AM The Ticket beginning at 6:20pm. The game can also be heard on the Internet through the Senators website.
