Rock Cats Ben Revere Selected for 2010 XM Futures Game

June 23, 2010 - Eastern League (EL1)
New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - Ben Revere, the highly-promising 22-year-old Outfielder for the New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League, has been selected to play for Team USA in the 2010 XM Futures Game that will be played on Sunday, July 11, at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, CA. This 12th annual Futures Game between the globe's top 50 professional baseball prospects - 25 representing the United States and 25 foreign-born players comprising the World team - will square off at 6:00 PM (EST) in Southern California.

The players named to the 2010 XM Futures Game were selected by a combination of Major League Baseball, the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America, and representatives of the 30 Major League Clubs. No organization may send more than two players - the Minnesota Twins maxed out with the combination of Revere (Team USA) and RHP Liam Hendriks (an Australian who will play for the World squad).

Ben Revere was selected out of Lexington (KY) Catholic High School by Minnesota in the 1st Round of the 2007 Draft. The 5'9"/175-pound speedster was the state of Kentucky's Gatorade Player of the Year in 2007 and the Twins' Minor League Player of the Year in both 2008 and 2009. After being a Florida State League All-Star in 2009, the versatile Outfielder was advanced to Double-A New Britain where, after a slow start, he has now moved into the League's Top 10 in Batting with a .307 BA. Primarily a leadoff hitter who plays Center Field, the affable left-handed batter has thus far collected 8 Doubles, 1 Triple, 1 Home Run, and 17 RBI in a New Britain uniform. His 21 Stolen Bases is tops for all Minor League classifications in the Minnesota system.

The Sunday afternoon, July 11th 2010 XM Futures Game can be seen live on MLB.TV and ESPN2. In addition, of course, the Game can be heard on XM Satellite Radio at the same hour.
