Harrisburg Senators News Release

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats evened their weekday series with the Harrisburg Senators on Wednesday afternoon, winning 9-4 in a game that started at 12:00 PM at Metro Bank Park. The announced attendance for the early game was 4586.

New Hampshire (43-29) jumped on the Sens early, scoring all nine runs in the first two innings. Starter Yunior Novoa (0-5) lasted just an inning and a third, allowing all nine earned runs during that time. Adam Loewen of the Fisher Cats drove in six of the runs, with a bases-clearing, three-run triple in the first and a three-run home run in the second.

The Senators (34-38) tried to claw back in the middle innings, scoring at least one run in the fourth, fifth, and sixth. In the fourth inning, Chris Marrero blasted his eleventh home run of the year to score Marvin Lowrance and cut the deficit to 9-2. Then, in the fifth, Ofilio Castro drove in Edgardo Baez with a sacrifice fly, and the score was 9-3. Baez had doubled to lead off the inning. The sixth began with a solo home run by Lowrance-his fifth of the season-which drew the Sens within 5 at 9-4.

But they would get no closer, as Adrian Martin and Tim Collins of the Fisher Cats threw three scoreless innings in relief of starter Ronald Uviedo (2-2), and the visitors held on for the easy victory. Six different Senators notched a hit in defeat: Marrero, Lowrance, Baez, Brad Coon, Michael Martinez, and Danny Espinosa.

The final game of the three-game series is Thursday night at 7 PM, at Metro Bank Park. Left-hander Tom Milone (5-3, 3.24) goes for the Sens, against RHP Bobby Bell (3-2, 6.55) of the Fisher Cats. Fans can hear all the action by tuning in to 1460 AM The Ticket, or logging on to www.senatorsbaseball.com, starting at 6:45 PM.
