(Rochester, Minn.)- The Rochester Honkers announced today the signing of two players from the University of North Dakota for the 2016 season. Sophomore Brett Harrison and redshirt freshman Miles Lewis will turn in their green and white for teal and black for the first time this summer.
Harrison is a 6-foot-2, 220-pound catcher from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He finished the 2015 collegiate season hitting .305 with five double and 17 RBIs. He started 45 games behind the plate as a true freshman making just four errors all season long. Harrison started off the season only hitting .128 through 12 games, but over the next 33 games, he was held hitless only seven times. He batted .337 in conference games.
A 2014 graduate of Vauxhall Academy in Winnipeg, Harrison played a total of six seasons as a catcher. He finished his senior season hitting .352 with 42 RBIs.
Miles Lewis is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound outfielder and catcher from Hudson, Wis. He took a medical redshirt in 2015 due to a shoulder injury but is 100% now after a successful rehab program. A 2014 graduate of Hudson High School, the three sport athlete earned a total of 10 varsity letters, four in baseball, and three in both basketball and football. He hit .388 and stole seven bases as a senior earning him Hudson High School Athlete of the Year. He was named first team all-conference and first team all-district twice and academic all-state honors both as a junior and senior.
North Dakota opens up their 2016 season this weekend when they travel to Southern California to take on the #12 ranked Trojans beginning on Friday.
The Rochester Honkers 23rd season begins on May 31st when the team travels to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to take on the Express. The following night, Wednesday, June 1st, the Honkers battle the Express in their home opener at Mayo Field at 7:05 pm. Season Tickets, Bonus Books, Suites and Patios are now available.
