Game Notes: The Rochester Americans host the Albany River Rats tonight at 7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial... The game will be broadcast on WHTK 1280-AM and on the web at www.amerks.com... The River Rats are 2-0-1-0 against the Amerks this season... The last time they met, the Amerks lost 3-0 on November 2nd at the Pepsi Arena... The game will be shown tape delayed on Time Warner Cable Channel 98 on Saturday, November 23rd at 11:00 a.m.
Current homestand: The game tonight is part of a four-game homestand for the Amerks... Rochester won the first two games, defeating the Binghamton Senators 5-3 Saturday night and beating the rival Hamilton Bulldogs 4-3 Sunday... The Amerks have won three of the last four games on home ice... With the string of wins, the Amerks have climbed back into contention for the Central Division... Rochester (4-8-4-2, 14 points) is in third place, one point behind the second-place Cincinnati Mighty Ducks.
Charity Game Saturday: Rochester's media celebrities are switching roles for charity, going from the press box to the penalty box as they challenge the Rochester Americans Alumni on Saturday, November 23rd at 4:00 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena... The charity hockey game will take place before the Rochester Americans - San Antonio Rampage game at 7:35 p.m. and will benefit Foodlink of Rochester... Fans can bring a non-perishable food item to the game and receive a $5 discount off an $18.25 or $14.25 Amerks ticket... The ticket will be good for both games that day... All food items will be donated to Rochester's Foodlink.
Amerk Notes: The Amerks have won four of the last six games, and have won two straight... Norm Milley leads the team with 16 points (5+11)... Goaltender Ryan Miller remains on recall with the Buffalo Sabres... Mika Noronen was assigned to the Rochester Americans today by Buffalo... With the Sabres this season, the former AHL Rookie of the Year posted a 0-4-1 record, a 2.75 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage... Jason Botterill is approaching two career milestones... He is three goals away from 50 in his AHL career and one shy of his 50th AHL assist... Doug Houda is one point away from 300 in his professional career.
River Rats Notes: The Albany River Rats (6-9-3-1, 16 points) enter the game tied for third place in the East Division with the Springfield Falcons... Tonight is the fourth game of a six-game series between the River Rats and the Amerks... Albany is winless in its last six games (0-5-0-1)... Ray Giroux is second in the AHL in points among defensemen with 16 (4+12), and is tied for the league lead with 12 assists... Craig Darby, who leads the River Rats with 18 points, remains on recall with the New Jersey Devils.
