Rob Guinn Dies In Traffic Accident

Former Tulsa Oilers defenseman Rob Guinn died Saturday night after an automobile accident in Iowa.

Guinn, 32, was in his car when another driver ran a stop sign, flipping Guinn's car on its side. He is survived by his wife Brooke, and five month old daughter Olivia.

"He touched a lot of people in the time he was here in Tulsa, "Oilers coach Dan Hodge said. "Rob was a consummate professional and the thoughts and prayers of all of us are with his family."

Oilers' goaltender Kevin St. Pierre was a teammate of Guinn's for two years with the Fort Wayne Komets.

"He was a great person and a lot of fun to be around. He was one of the funniest people I know," St. Pierre said. "He loved his family with all his heart."

Guinn played 10 games for the Oilers at the start of the 2007-08 season. He returned to Illinois to be closer to his family and finished his career as a member of the Bloomington Prairie Thunder of the International Hockey League. Guinn played in the 2007 Central Hockey League all-star game, representing the New Mexico Scorpions. He was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the eighth round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft (185^th overall).
