RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-It is with sad news the Scorpions have learned former captain Rob Guinn has passed away in an auto accident. He is survived by his wife Brooke, five-month old daughter Olivia and his parents.
Guinn was driving his Kia Sportage on Saturday when around 5:30 p.m. another driver ran a stop side and struck Guinn's car on the driver's side causing it to flip over. He was later pronounced dead at Greene County (Iowa) Hospital.
Scorpions' head coach Randy Murphy was a teammate of Guinn for two seasons with the Elmira Jackals. Murphy also coached Guinn during his tenure with the Scorpions.
"He was a great friend to have in my personal life and was always a great teammate to be around," said Murphy. "I can't put into words how I feel I just want Brooke, Olivia and his parents to know the entire Scorpions organization has them in their thoughts and prayers."
Funeral arrangements are still pending. The Scorpions will pass along further information when it is available.
