Rob Blasdell named Overall Player of the Month for January

GLENDALE, AZ --- The National Lacrosse League announced today that Arizona Sting goaltender Rob Blasdell has been named the league's Overall Player of the Month for January. The 36-year old led the Sting to a 3-1 record in January while posting a league-best goals-against-average of 8.50 and save percentage of 82.0%.
"We're thrilled with Rob's play so far this year and we're very proud of him for winning this award," said Sting Head Coach/General Manager Bob Hamley. "Having our number one goalie playing at such a high level really gives the whole team a lot of confidence and that has been a big part of our early success. We're looking forward to the rest of the season."
This is the second time that Blasdell has earned Player of the Month honors. In March of 2000, the 6'1", 205 lb. net minder earned the award as a member of the Albany Attack. Blasdell was named NLL Goalie of the Year in 2002 after setting a league record by making 644 saves on the season for Albany.
Currently in his tenth NLL season, Blasdell is ranked sixth on the league's all-time save list with 3,187. In 104 career games as a member of the Ontario Raiders/Toronto Rock, Albany Attack/San Jose Stealth, and Arizona Sting, the Orillia, Ontario native has registered a G.A.A. of 12.13 in 5,138 minutes of action.
The Sting acquired Blasdell from the Edmonton Rush on July 13, 2005 in exchange for a first round draft pick at the 2007 NLL Entry Draft. He was named Arizona's Franchise Player on August 1, 2006.
