San Jose Stealth News Release

(San Jose, CA, Feb. 1, 2007) --- The San Jose Stealth have paired up with SlingIt! Lacrosse to donate twenty sets of lacrosse gear for the first ever Varsity Lacrosse Program in the Watsonville Community. The Stealth will present sticks, helmets, gloves, shoulder pads, arms pads and goalie gear to the Watsonville High School team at the Stealth's Inaugural Lacrosse Appreciation Night on February 3 during halftime at HP Pavilion.

Stealth G.M. Johnny Mouradian teamed up with Children's Outreach President, Wesley Koenig, who started Santa Cruz County Lacrosse, and Mike Sheridan of SlingIt! Lacrosse to make this donation possible.

"It was great to work with Wes and Mike to drum up equipment for the players at Watsonville High," said Mouradian. "It's wonderful to see a new lacrosse program start up and see the kids so excited about the sport. We were happy to help Wes bring another team into the Santa Cruz County Lacrosse League."

Over the past two years, the Stealth have enjoyed a great relationship with Children's Outreach, Inc. and Santa Cruz County Lacrosse. Stealth players Gary Rosyski and Eric Martin have donated their time for numerous residential camps and free lacrosse clinics while Stealth Captain Shaydon Santos has coached the Scotts Valley High School team. The Stealth have also donated sticks and balls for local schools to promote lacrosse in the P.E. classes through Sticks-2-Schools.

"Johnny has been extremely supportive of our programs by donating equipment for Watsonville High; a program that would not have started without the Stealth," said Wes Koeing, President of Children's Outreach, Inc.

Children's Outreach, Inc. is a non-profit organization providing organized sports activities to all children in greater Santa Cruz County. They have been providing organized leagues, camps and instruction in lacrosse for the past four years.

"Most schools have enough players interested to field JV teams as well as varsity," said Stealth Captain Shaydon Santos. "That's 35-45 players and that number is going to keep growing year after year. Every kid who wants to play this sport should be able to and if the Stealth can donate some equipment to make that happen then that's what the spirit of the game is all about."
