Roanoke City Council to proclaim Dazzle Blue and Gold Week

Roanoke, Va., January 12 - In a ceremony to be held at the Roanoke City Council Meeting on Tuesday, January 17th at 2:00 p.m., the Council will make an official proclamation of the week of January 22nd through the 28th as "Dazzle Blue and Gold Week."

This proclamation coincides with the return home of the Roanoke Dazzle from a month long, eight game road trip. The Dazzle will take to the Roanoke Civic Center floor for a pair of weekend games on Friday, January 27th and Saturday the 28th with tip-off for both games at 7:00 p.m. These will be the first home games for the Dazzle in the New Year.

As part of the festivities for "Dazzle Blue & Gold Week" any fan that wears blue and gold to the games on either Friday or Saturday will receive two-for-one admission into the games.

"This is a big week for us as we re-launch the season and head into our final 12 home games of the season." Said Dazzle team President Dennis Robarge.

In addition to radio remotes and contests throughout the week, members of the Dazzle team and staff will be a making numerous appearances around the Roanoke Valley promoting "Dazzle Blue & Gold Week."

The Dazzle will initiate an "Our Colors are Your Colors" program with local high schools in the area whose colors are also blue and gold. Special ticket offers will be going out to students and faculty of these schools for the games on the 27th and 28th.

Joining the Dazzle in promoting events for the "Dazzle Blue and Gold Week" is Krispy Kreme Donuts. During "Dazzle Blue and Gold Week", Krispy Kreme will produce special Dazzle Donuts that feature blue and gold sprinkles. Any fan that purchases one of these "Dazzle Donuts" at Krispy Kreme or local Sheetz stores will receive a coupon good for two-for-one admission into the games on Friday and Saturday.

The Dazzle are proud to be recognized as a community partner in Roanoke. "It is a tremendous honor to once again be recognized by the city for our contributions. We will make the most of this opportunity and make "Blue and Gold Week" a fun week for residents of our area." concluded Robarge.

The NBA Development League includes the Albuquerque Thunderbirds (N.M.), Arkansas RimRockers (Little Rock), Austin Toros (Texas), Fayetteville Patriots (N.C.), Florida Flame (Ft. Myers), Fort Worth Flyers (Texas), Roanoke Dazzle (Va.) and Tulsa 66ers (Okla.).

The D-League offers players the opportunity to develop their talent in a highly competitive atmosphere under the NBA's umbrella. Thirty-seven (37) players have been called up to the NBA on 51 separate occasions. Eleven (11) former D-League coaches, six athletic trainers, 14 referees and 30 front office executives have also been called up since the start of the league's inaugural season in November 2001.

Designed to help grow the sport of basketball both domestically and internationally, the league also offers fun, family entertainment at affordable prices. The D-League is a source of on-court talent for the NBA's 30 teams and is a diverse human resources pool for the NBA and its teams by training employees in management, operations, public relations, sales and marketing positions.
