
Roadrunners Win Second Straight over Cats

EDINBURG, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners scored in each of the first four innings and got solid pitching as they defeated the Fort Worth Cats 8-5 Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
The Roadrunners (22-27) got the scoring started in the bottom of the first as Tim Maitland came in to score on an RBI single from Trevor Whyte that made it 1-0.
Edinburg added to their lead in the bottom of the second. Travis Clark drove in Tim Battle from second with an RBI single. A throwing error then allowed Clark to score and then an RBI groundout by Agustin Septimo allowed Michael Haynes to score from third. Whyte drove in Maitland with an RBI double extending the lead to 5-0.
In the bottom of the third, Clark hit an RBI single that scored Ryde Rodriguez from second pushing the score to 6-0.
Then, Whyte added an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth scoring Maitland to make it 7-0.
The Cats (31-19) cut into the Roadrunners lead in the top of the fifth as they scored five runs against Antony Bello. Chris Christopoulos hit a three-run home run in the inning, his first with the Cats, which helped make the score 7-5 in favor of the Roadrunners.
Cullen Babin worked three scoreless innings to hold the lead as he handed the ball over to Damian Seguen in the ninth. Seguen pitched a scoreless ninth for his fifth save giving Edinburg the 8-5 victory.
Bello (2-4) pitched five innings while allowing five runs, two earned, on five hits while striking three for his second win of the season.
Kyle Wilson (4-2) took the loss after allowing seven runs, four earned, with seven strike outs during his six innings of work.
The Roadrunners and Cats will play game three of their four-game series Monday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
