Colts Earn Walk-Off Win against WhiteWings

San Angelo, Texas --- Third baseman Ryan Hutson hit a walk-off RBI single in the 12th inning to give the San Angelo Colts a thrilling, 4-3, win over the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings Sunday night at Foster Field.
Second baseman Jon Dziomba led off the 12th with a double, and then scored on Hutson's two-out single. Hutson finished the game 2-for-5 with two RBI base hits. His first RBI single gave the Colts a 2-1 lead in the first inning.
The WhiteWings took a 3-2 lead in the seventh, putting starter Brett Kennedy in line for a win. Kennedy gave up two runs on nine hits in seven innings. San Angelo tied the game in the eighth, though, forcing Kennedy to take a no decision.
Designated hitter Derrick Pyles hit a leadoff single, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. Two batters later, catcher Bubby Williams hit an RBI single that brought Pyles home.
WhiteWings' reliever Nelson Curry (2-1) surrendered the winning run, and therefore took the loss. Curry allowed a run on three hits in 2 2/3 innings pitched.
San Angelo reliever Jeremy Tietze (2-1) earned the win by virtue of pitching the top of the 12th. Tietze pitched one scoreless inning, and struck out one batter.
The win improves San Angelo to 26-24, while the loss drops Rio Grande Valley to 25-24. This series continues Monday night at Foster Field. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
The Colts are in the midst of a 12-game home stand. The home stand runs from Tuesday, July 9 through Saturday, July 20, and in that time the Colt face the Fort Worth Cats, Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings, and Edinburg Roadrunners. After this home stand, the Colts begin an eight-game road trip against the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings and the Edinburg Roadrunners. The Colts then return home for their last 12-game home stand of the regular season on Tuesday, July 30.
