Roadrunners Split Series with Dillas

AMARILLO, Texas---The Edinburg Roadrunners split the four-game series with the Amarillo Dillas after a 7-6 victory Monday night at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.

Tim Haines (4-1) got his fourth win of the season after allowing two runs in seven innings of work while scattering six hits and striking out six.

The Roadrunners (18-7) got on the board in the first inning for the fourth straight game as Wilson Batista scored on a fielding error by Amarillo's Alberto Cruz making it 1-0.

Amarillo (14-12) answered back against Haines in the bottom of the first with a two-run single by Cruz giving the Dillas the 2-1 lead.

Wilmer Pino started the bottom of the third inning with a double and then moved to third on a ground out by Felix Molina. After Batista was hit by a pitch, Ambiorix Concepcion hit an RBI single that allowed Pino to score tying the game at two.

In the top of the fifth, Batista gave Edinburg the lead with an RBI single scoring Pino from second. With runners on the corners, Concepcion hit a sacrifice fly to center field that allowed Molina to score making it 4-2 Roadrunners.

Two errors by the Dillas in the top of the sixth allowed the bases loaded for the Roadrunners. Molina followed with a two-run double that allowed Alexis Hernandez and Osiel Flores to score and a fielding error by Amarillo's left fielder TJ Warren allowed Adam Matos to score from first extending Edinburg's lead 7-2.

The Dillas cut into the Roadrunners lead in the bottom of the eighth with two runs against Edinburg reliever Ricardo Serrano making the score 7-4.

Julio Castro picked up his fifth save of the season after allowing two runs in the bottom of the ninth giving Edinburg the 7-6 victory.

After an off day on Tuesday the Roadrunners start a four-game series with the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings starting Wednesday night at Harlingen Field.
