Roadrunners Split Series in San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners earned the series split after defeating the San Angelo Colts 8-2 Sunday night at Foster Field.

Miguel Martinez (3-2) allowed just one run on three hits in seven innings pitched with seven strikeouts.

The Roadrunners (13-11) gave Martinez all the runs he needed in the top of the second with RBI singles from Pascual Del Real, Tim Battle, and Wilmer Pino which made it 3-0.

J.J. Sherrill got the Colts (11-12) on the board in the bottom of the third with an RBI double to make it 3-1 Edinburg. That as the only run Martinez would allow.

Carlos Hereaud extended the Roadrunners lead to 5-1 with a two-run homerun, his second of the season.

In the top of the seventh, Pino came into score on a fielding error by the second baseman. With two runners on, Eric Bloom lined a two-run double that allowed Perren and Tony Phillips to score extending the Edinburg lead 8-1.

San Angelo added a run in the bottom of the ninth but Paul Koss struck out Sherrill to end the game giving Edinburg the 8-2 victory.

Logan Williamson (3-1) took the loss after allowing five runs in six innings and striking out five.

The Roadrunners return to Edinburg Baseball Stadium Monday night but will be visiting the McAllen Thunder with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
