San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, Texas --- The Colts mustered just two runs on four hits in their 8-2 defeat to the Edinburg Roadrunners Sunday night at Foster Field. San Angelo's previous season low for hits was five, set on June 8 at Fort Worth in game one of a doubleheader.
Starter Logan Williamson (3-1) entered the game undefeated this season, but he was touched up for five runs on seven hits in six innings.
Edinburg scored all the runs they needed in the second inning. Five batters reached base safely before Williamson could record an out. Designated hitter Pascual Del Real and right fielder Tim Battle hit back-to-back RBI singles. Then with two outs, second baseman Wilmer Pino drove in the third run with an RBI infield single.
Right fielder J.J. Sherrill put the Colts on the board in the third with an RBI double that brought home catcher Josh Banda. The run cut the Colts' deficit to 3-1, but that was as close as they got.
Roadrunners first baseman Carlos Hereaud hit a two-run homer in the fifth to give Edinburg a 5-1 lead. The Roadrunners then tacked on three more insurance runs in the seventh.
Edinburg starter Miguel Martinez (3-2) got the win, allowing one run on three hits in seven innings. He also struck out seven and walked four.
The win improved Edinburg to 13-11, and dropped the Colts to 11-12. San Angelo begins a stretch of eight consecutive games against the Abilene Prairie Dogs tomorrow at Walt Driggers Field. Game time is 7:05 p.m., and it can be heard on KKSA beginning at 6:50 p.m.
The Colts' next home game is Tuesday against the Abilene Prairie Dogs. It will be a $2 Tuesday, sponsored by Budweiser. Gates open at 6:05 p.m. and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
