Edinburg Roadrunners News Release
San Angelo, Texas---Edinburg third baseman C.J. Beatty hit go-ahead home runs in each of his last two at-bats, including the game-winner in the top of the ninth, to give the Roadrunners a 6-4 win Wednesday night at Foster Field.
Edinburg scored first, when in the first inning Beatty led off with a single and scored on Gabe Memmert's RBI base hit to make it 1-0. But the Colts tied it in the bottom of the inning, when Ronnie Gaines doubled to lead off and scored on Mark Ramos' single to tie it at one. The score would stay that way until the fifth as starters Brian Henschel and Toro Trevino posted zeroes.
The Colts scored one in the fifth on a Clay Calfee single, but squandered a bases loaded opportunity when Trevino struck out consecutive hitters to retire the side.
Henschel hit a wall in the seventh inning. A one out hit by Wellington Dotel and a walk to Robert Matlock put two on for Beatty (2) who homered to give the Roadrunners a 4-2 lead. San Angelo scored one in the bottom of the inning on a wild pitch and tied it in the eighth on Ronnie Gaines' RBI double. Beatty (3) broke the tie in the ninth, with a two-run homer off San Angelo closer Sean Kramer to give the Roadrunners a 6-4 lead.
Mike Schurz (1-0, 1.39) earned the win in relief, Kramer (1-2, 9.53) took the loss and Julio Castro (5) pitched the ninth to earn the save.
