Roadrunners Lose Third in a Row

EDINBURG, Texas---- The Edinburg Roadrunners (8-12) lost their third game in a row against the San Angelo Colts (14-6) with a final score of 8-4 Wednesday night at the Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

Aaron Guerra (0-1) picked got the loss after allowing eight runs on seven hits through six and a third innings.

The Colts jumped out in front in the top of the first inning after Jason Diaz hit an RBI double that scored Bradley Goldsmith from first base for a 1-0 lead. Jason Landreth then hit a two-run homerun for a 3-0 Colts advantage. In the top of the fourth inning, Landreth hit his second homerun of the game that put the Colts on top with a score of 4-0.

After four perfect innings by Colts' starter Ezequiel Astacio, the Roadrunners scored two runs on three hits. With runners at second and third, Amado German had an RBI groundout that allowed Angel Reyes to score from third. Then with two outs, Robert Matlock hit an RBI single that scored Osiel Flores for a 4-2 Colts lead.

San Angelo added to their lead in the top of the seventh inning. The Colts scored four runs on four hits which made the score 8-2.

Edinburg scored one run in the bottom half of the seventh on an RBI fielder's choice off the bat of Carlos Hereaud which made the score 8-3. The Roadrunners scored another run in the bottom of the ninth inning on an RBI single by Vincent Blue that made the final score 8-4.

Former Houston Astros pitcher Ezequiel Astacio (3-0) got the win after allowing two runs on four hits in six innings of work.

The Roadrunners will open a four-game series against the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings on Thursday night at the Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Pedro Flores (0-2) will face Reymond Cruz (3-1) with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
