
Roadrunners End Season on Three-Game Win Streak

EDINBURG, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners ended their 2011 season on a three-game win streak after defeating the San Angelo Colts 3-1 Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Jose Pablo Oyervidez (3-1) pitched eight innings and allowed one run, which was unearned, while scattering three hits and striking out seven.
The Roadrunners (37-52) got on the scoreboard in bottom of the first against Alfredo Caballero. Antonio De Jesus led off the inning with a single and then moved to third after a single by Stantrel Smith. R.J. Harris then hit a sacrifice fly scoring De Jesus from third for a 1-0 lead.
With two outs in the bottom of the second inning, D.J. Dixon hit a single to left and Brandon Wilkerson doubled down the third base line putting runners at second and third. De Jesus then delivered a two-run single to left field scoring both Dixon and Wilkerson that extended the Roadrunners lead 3-0.
The Colts (52-36) got on the board in the top of the eighth. Davis Paige reached on a fielding error and then came into score on a bases loaded double-play cutting Edinburg's lead 3-1.
Mike Schurz pitched a scoreless ninth for his third save of the season giving the Roadrunners the 3-1 victory.
