
Roadrunners Drop Series To Whitewings

EDINBURG, Texas--- The Edinburg Roadrunners dropped the final game of the four-game series with the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings with a 19-3 loss Saturday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
The WhiteWings (3-1) grabbed the early lead with five runs in the top of the first against Jorge Quintero (0-1) while batting around in the inning.
In the top of the third, RGV sent 13 batters to the plate and scored eight more runs on six hits extending their lead to 13-0.
RGV added three more runs in the top of the sixth, two in the top of the eighth and one in top of the ninth.
Alexander Concepcion (1-0) picked up the win after pitching five innings while scattering four hits and not allowing any runs.
Edinburg (1-3) got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the eighth with a three-run double by Robert Matlock.
Eric Gonzalez closed out the ball game with a scoreless ninth giving the WhiteWings the 19-3 victory.
The Roadrunners welcome the San Angelo Colts to Edinburg Baseball Stadium for a four-game series starting Sunday evening. Scott Wingo (0-0) is expected to face Steve MacFarland (0-0) with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
