San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas---The McAllen Thunder scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to come back from a two run deficit and beat the Colts 7-5 Saturday night at Foster Field. McAllen took three out of four from San Angelo in the season's opening series.

With the Colts leading 5-3 in the bottom of the ninth, Adam Matos homered with one out. After San Angelo reliever Sean Kramer walked Eric Eiland and Ron Perodin, rookie second baseman Blake Sanders delivered a two-run, two-out double to put the Thunder in front for good.

The game started as a pitcher's duel between San Angelo's Gorman Romero and McAllen's Kurt Houck. Romero allowed three runs in seven innings, while Houck held the Colts hitless through five, until San Angelo scored four sixth inning runs.

San Angelo added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning to make the score 5-3 going into the ninth, before the Thunder struck for four runs off Kramer. Thunder reliever Robert Roth (1-0, 4.50) picked up the win, while Kramer (0-1, 36.00) was hit with the loss. Luis Matamoros (1) came on in the bottom of the ninth to record his first save.

San Angelo hits the road for the first time this season Sunday, when it takes on the Edinburgh Roadrunners. The mound matchup in game one of the four game series will see RHP Steve MacFarland take the hill for the Colts against Edinburgh's RHP Scott Wingo.
