
Roadrunners Drop Game Two Against Dillas

EDINBURG, TEXAS ---- The Edinburg Roadrunners dropped the second game of the best-of-three series 14-3 to the Amarillo Dillas Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
The Dillas (1-1) scored for the first time in the top of the third inning when Stantrel Smith hit a two run home run off of Edinburg starter Tim Haines (0-1). Three batters later, Angel Reyes followed with a two-run single giving Amarillo the 4-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth the Dillas sent 11batters to the plate knocking Haines out of the ball game and scored seven runs on seven hits extending their lead to11-0.
Edinburg (1-1) got their runs in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single by Hector Garanzuay that allowed Wilmer Pino to score but Amarillo's right fielder Terrance McClain misplayed the ball and that allowed Vincent Blue to score making it an 11-2 game.
Amarillo scored three more runs against the Roadrunners pitching staff in the top of the seventh after starting the inning with three straight hits making it a 14-2 game.
Robbie Wooley allowed one run in three innings of work for his first save of the postseason giving the Dillas the 14-3 victory and extending the best-of-three series to the third and final game.
Ralph Roberts (1-0) picked up the win after he allowed two runs while scattering three hits and striking out four in six innings of work.
The Roadrunners and Dillas will travel to Amarillo to play the third and final game of the best-of-three series Thursday night at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa. Pedro Flores is expected to face Taylor Allen with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
