
Roadrunners Drop Fifth Straight

EDINBURG, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners lost their fifth game in a row after an 11-2 loss to the McAllen Thunder Saturday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium in front of 3,711 in attendance.
McAllen (24-36) jumped out to the early lead in the top of the first with a solo home run by Antoin Gray making it 1-0.
The Roadrunners (24-38) tied things up in the bottom of the second. Wellington Dotel led off with a single and then moved to second on a walk to Osiel Flores. Robert Matlock then followed with an RBI single that allowed Dotel to score tying the game at one.
Three errors in the top of the third allowed the Thunder to regain the lead with three runs scored in the inning making it 4-1.
Wilson Batista led off the top of the fifth with a triple and then came into score on an RBI groundout by Luke Hetherington. Mike Goss followed with a double and then moved to third on a fielding error. Matt Redding then drove in Goss from third with a sacrifice fly pushing McAllen's lead 6-1.
After adding two more in the top of the sixth, the Thunder added to their lead with another home run by Gray, this time a three-run shot, that made it 11-1.
Edinburg added a run in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI fielder's choice by Gabe Memmert that allowed Jonathan Fernandez to score. Luis Matamoros retired the side giving McAllen the 11-2 victory.
Adrian Garza (2-2) picked up the win after allowing one run on four hits in six innings of work.
The Roadrunners and Thunder will play a double-header on Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium to make up for a rain out. The double-header will consist of two seven inning ball games and game one is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
