Roadrunners Complete Sweep of Thunder

EDINBURG, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners completed the sweep of the McAllen Thunder with a 4-1 victory behind Curtis Camilli's complete game Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium, in front of 3,874 in attendance.

Camilli (4-2) allowed just one hit after the fourth inning as he earned his fourth win of the season while striking out 12.

Tim Battle led off the top of the fourth inning with a single for the Thunder (14-26) and then stole second and third. Joseph Hicks then drove in Battle with an RBI groundout giving McAllen the 1-0 lead.

The Roadrunners (18-21) answered in the bottom of the fourth as Carlton Salters delivered an RBI double to left field that scored Dan Coury from second tying the game at one.

In the bottom of the fifth, Tim Maitland reached on a two-out single and then moved to second on a stolen base. After a single by Fernando De Los Santos, Trevor Whyte hit an RBI single that scored Maitland from third. Later in the inning, Ryde Rodriguez hit a two-run double that scored De Los Santos and Whyte giving the Roadrunners the 4-1 lead for good.

Brett Miller (1-3) took the tough-luck loss after he pitched seven innings and allowed four runs on nine hits.

The Roadrunners head to Alexandria to face the Aces in a four-game series before returning to Edinburg Baseball Stadium on July 9 to face off against the McAllen Thunder.
