Fort Worth Cats News Release
The Fort Worth Cats rallied from behind three times in Tuesday night's game and walked off in extras to defeat the Alexandria Aces 8-7.
The Cats (25-14) fell behind 3-0 in the second inning, but tied the game 3-3 in the third on five hits.
The Aces (20-19) took a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning, but Fort Worth tied it on a David Bergin single and took their first lead of the game on a wild pitch by Aces' starter Mike Loseke.
After Alexandria rallied for three more runs in the seventh inning off reliever Cole Stephens, the Cats had to make another comeback. The team loaded the bases on a single and two walks then tied it on a Bergin sacrifice fly and another Aces' wild pitch.
Ryan Miller led off the 10th inning with a single, advanced to second on a Cameron Monger sacrifice bunt and scored on a hit-and-run single by Chris Ellison.
The Fort Worth bullpen came on for stellar relief. After Stephens surrendered the lead, James Guilietti, Wes Alsup and Matt Eshleman threw three innings of hitless baseball, tallying five strikeouts in the process.
In his first game with the team, new Cat Nikko Tountas went 1-for-1 with four walks.
The Cats wrap up the four-game series with the Aces on Wednesday. First pitch is 7:05. Tickets to the game are $10 and all fans in attendance will be treated to a postgame fireworks show put on by the Fort Worth Cats.
Tickets to the game can be purchased by calling (817) 332-CATS or by going to FWCats.com.
