RoadRunners, CHL's Sundogs Meet in the "Battle of The Desert"

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, an affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes and the San Antonio Rampage, have announced that they will face-off against the Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League in a two-game pre-season series at 7:05 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 and Saturday, Oct. 13 at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley.

The series, featuring Arizona's two professional "AA" hockey teams, has been dubbed as the "Battle of the Desert", and the winner will be presented with the first annual "Glass Cactus" following Saturday's game.

"We'd like to thank the Sundogs for hosting these games and making this event possible," said RoadRunners Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Church. "Pre-season contests are important tools for evaluating players, and when you combine that with the unique opportunity for our fans to see a team from a different league, it should make for a very exciting weekend for everyone involved."

Tickets for both pre-season games will be $13 regardless of location in Tim's Toyota Center and will go on sale Monday, Sep. 10 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling 1-866-4-GET-TIX (1-866-443-8849), online at www.gettix.net, or in person at the Tim's Toyota Center Box Office.

RoadRunners fans will have the opportunity to purchase tickets in a specific section of Tim's Toyota Center by calling Sundogs Director of Ticket Sales Mike Fisher at (928) 583-6611. These reserved tickets will be available through Oct. 1.

The RoadRunners return to US Airways Center at 7:11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 when they host the Utah Grizzlies to commence their third season in the desert.
