Roadrunners Beat Cats in Extras

EDINBURG, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners outlasted the Fort Worth Cats with a 4-3 victory in 11 innings Monday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

With the game tied at three, a fielding error by the Fort Worth second baseman allowed Tim Battle to score from second for the winning run.

Chad Gabriel got the Cats (17-14) on the board in the bottom of the first with an RBI single that score R.J. Harris giving them the 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the first, Wilmer Pino answered back with his second home run of the season tying the game at one.

The Roadrunners (19-13) grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fourth against Trevor Harden. Felix Molina hit a two-out double to left center and then came around to score on an RBI single by Osiel Flores that made it 2-1 Edinburg.

With runners on the corners in the top of the sixth, Fort Worth got a run on a double play that allowed Harris to score tying things at two.

Tim Battle started the bottom of the eighth with a triple to right center and then came into score on a sacrifice fly by Vincent Blue that made it 3-2.

Former Roadrunner C.J. Beatty tied the game at three in the top of the ninth with a lead-off solo homerun off of Edinburg closer Julio Castro.

Castro (2-0) got the win after pitching three innings and allowing just one run and striking out four.

The Roadrunners have Tuesday night off before hosting the Abilene Prairie Dogs for a four-game series starting Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
