Abilene Wins Series Finale in Extras

Abilene, Texas --- Prairie Dogs' designated hitter Case Rigby hit a walk off, RBI single in the 10th to give Abilene a 6-5 win over the Colts Monday night at Walt Driggers Field.

Abilene right fielder Joe Weik hit a one-out double down the left field line, and then scored on Rigby's game-winning single. Colts' reliever Kyle Boggio (0-2) surrendered the run, and took the loss.

The Prairie Dogs trailed 5-4 entering the eighth inning, but tied the game thanks to an RBI single by first baseman Nick Ochoa. Third baseman Wilson Batista scored the tying run on Ochoa's hit.

Batista gave Abilene a 1-0 lead in the first with a solo home run against Colts' starter Jose Sanchez. The lefty allowed four runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings, and took the no decision.

At the plate, third baseman Jason Crosland tied a Colts' season high with four RBIs. He finished the night 2-for-5. The Colts were held scoreless through the last seven innings, though.

Adam Rowe started for Abilene, and gave up five runs on eight hits in six innings. Reliever Jeremy Tietze (1-1) pitched two scoreless innings to earn his first win.

The loss drops the Colts to 15-16, and the win improves Abilene to 14-17.

The Colts have Tuesday off and then begin a four-game series against the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.. It will be the first Youth Clinic Night, sponsored by Wal-Mart, and a Sherwin Wednesday, sponsored by Sherwin Williams.

The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
