Frederick Keys News Release
Another night saw another early lead spoiled as Potomac scored five two-out runs in the fifth inning and held on throughout to defeat Frederick 8-4 on Saturday Night. The loss is the third straight for Frederick.
The big inning saw five runs score on just two hits. The Keys walked two batters, hit one and committed a costly error as 2B Matt Tucker could not corral a ground ball that scored two runs to finish the scoring.
Tucker did have a big night at the plate with three hits including his second Carolina League home run in the eighth inning. He had the lone multi-hit game for Frederick.
The Keys had chances to rally in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings but could muster just a lone run in each frame.
Frederick has allowed eight runs or more in all four losses on the roadtrip. Its lone win was a 6-4 victory over Winston-Salerm Tuesday Night.
The Keys look to salvage a game Sunday afternoon with Zach Britton on the hill. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. with The UPS Store Pre-Game Show beginning at 12:45 p.m.
Frederick heads home for its longest homestand of the 2009 season starting Monday May 4th against Winston-Salem. The 7:00 p.m. start is a Kids Eat Free Monday.
