JOHNSON CITY, TN - The Kingsport Road Warriors fell to the Burlington Sock Puppets, 10-0, Tuesday evening at TVA Credit Union Ballpark.

The Road Warriors (0-3) put a runner on base in each of the first seven innings but Kingsport was unable to string together timely hits. Darien Farley, Marco Romero and Ben Berenda all reached safely twice in the loss.

Right-hander Gaven Jones, who came into the game in the second frame, was one of the few bright spots for the Road Warriors. Jones tossed 4 1/3 innings, yielding one run in his Appalachian League debut. He struck out six and issued zero walks.

Burlington (15-21-2) jumped on the board with a five-run second inning before tacking on a tally in the fifth and four more in the seventh. The Sock Puppets recorded 15 knocks, including eight extra-base hits.

Kingsport looks to split the two-game set with the Sock Puppets Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
