Road Warriors Add Size To Blue Line With Schulz

Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that 6-4, 215-pound defenseman David Schulz has signed with the team for the 2010-11 season.
"I expect David to bring a solid and steady presence to our team. He is the type of defenseman that is very hard to play against because of his size and because he competes hard each night. David is also a player that can be relied upon to provide leadership on and off of the ice," said Head Coach Dean Stork.
Schulz, 24, is entering his fourth season at the pro level. The defenseman from Winkler, Manitoba, spent each of the last two seasons with the Johnstown Chiefs, and played more games (114) for Johnstown than any other defenseman during that span. In that time Schulz posted 18 points (2G, 16A) and 161 penalty minutes. He led the Chiefs with eight fighting majors last season and set a career high with 96 penalty minutes. As a rookie with the Texas Wildcatters in 2007-08, Schulz earned 20 points (8G, 12A) and 36 penalty minutes in 49 games.
An extensive junior career in the Western Hockey League preceded Schulz' days in the ECHL. From 2001 to 2007 he spent time with the Swift Current Broncos, Spokane Chiefs, Saskatoon Blades, and Kelowna Rockets. Over his 304 WHL games Schulz amassed 96 points (23G, 73A) and 407 penalty minutes.
An eighth round draft pick (#254 overall) of the Vancouver Canucks in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Schulz has also played 15 games in the American Hockey League.
