RKWAC Fights Cancer This Weekend

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Mississippi RiverKings are partnering with the group RiverKings With A Cause this weekend to help fight cancer. Here are the particulars:

WHO: RiverKings With A Cause (Team Page) WHAT: Is sponsoring a team in the DeSoto County Relay For Life, supporting the American Cancer Society WHERE: Snowden Grove Park, Getwell Road, Southaven, Mississippi WHEN: Friday night, May 21st at 6 PM through Saturday morning, May 22nd at 6 AM. WHY: Cancer in its various forms remains one of the leading killers of Americans each year. Relays for Life are held throughout the country to honor the victims of this horrible disease and those who are survivors through early detection and treatment. HOW: Team members have asked for pledges and donations toward their fundraising efforts. The team will be walking at Snowden Grove with other teams from DeSoto County during the night to raise awareness and fulfill pledge commitments. There will also be a "survivor walk" for survivors of cancer, and luminarias will be placed along the route in honor of cancer victims. RIVERKINGS: The RiverKings will have staff members on hand supporting the team and the entire effort during the evening. In addition, the team's Slapshot Inflatable will be on hand to provide some fun while there.
