
Riversharks Swap Abe Alvarez For Outfielder

CAMDEN, NJ- After one appearance as a Rivershark, pitcher Abe Alvarez was traded to the Long Island Ducks for outfielder Jamal Strong. Camden signed Alvarez, 25, after he was released from the Red Sox system last week. He has four stops in the Majors.
Alvarez was 2-1 with a 6.46 ERA in 13 appearances for Triple-A Pawtucket. He threw 1.2 innings for Camden, allowing four hits and two earned runs.
Strong, 29, is a former sixth rounder from the Seattle Mariners with Major League experience. He has time in the Cubs, Braves and Yankees systems, too, and split time between Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes-Barre and Double-A Trenton last season.
Strong hit .429 against Camden and .296 overall with the Ducks this season.
