Camden Riversharks News Release
CAMDEN, NJ - The 6,871 people in attendance at Campbell's Field Friday night got their money's worth. Camden's Brian Lawrence and York's Corey Thurman staged a pitching duel that ended in a 2-0 final.
Lawrence pitched sharply through eight innings-the kind of game that would have warranted a go at completion if he had run support. He gave up six hits but struck out eight and walked zero.
York's first score came in the third. Jose Enrique Cruz singled and stole second. Jake Daubert singled him in two batters later.
The second came in the eighth. Once again, it was off Daubert's bat. The third baseman singled in Matt Esquivel.
The Riversharks stranded seven total runners, forfeiting chances for a comeback. Gary Cates was the lone Shark to reach base more than once. Cates doubled and walked twice.
The series continues tomorrow night at 5:05 p.m. Tickets are available online at www.riversharks.com or by calling 1-866-SHARKS-9.
