Riversharks Reverse Last Night's Score

(CAMDEN, NJ) This evening's game mirrored last night's as the two teams were tied with a score of two heading into the ninth inning. The outcome of tonight's game had the 'Sharks coming out on top, scoring with a walk off single from Chris Malec in the bottom of the ninth.

Eddy Camacho earned his seventh win this season (7-0) while Jeff Kennard took his first loss (3-1). Ben Davis retired 16 batters in a row, while overall the Riversharks retired a total of 21 batters consecutively.

Somerset struck first again and scored back to back runs in the first and second innings. To make it a 1-0 score, Josh Pressley drove Joe Burke in with a base hit. Burke walked during his at bat and then proceeded with the next batter at the plate.

During the next frame, Iggy Suarez singled to score Elliot Ayala who singled two batters prior. Suarez extended the Patriots lead 2-0.

The Riversharks opened their scoring in the bottom of the third. Sean Smith doubled to lead off the inning. The next two batters were both put out at first base before Teuris Olivares walked to the plate to hit a two run homer, putting the teams on even ground.

Both teams were scoreless for five full innings with the Riversharks not allowing any hits for the Patriots past the second frame.

In the bottom of the ninth, Chris Walker initiated the winning opportunity for the home team. He singled on his at bat and then got into scoring position by stealing second. Smith struck out which left Chris Malec walking to the plate with two outs on the board in hopes of keeping the game from going into extra innings. Malec hit a walk off single to score Walker and to defeat the Patriots 3-2.
