The Peoria Rivermen scored three unanswered goals in the final ten minutes of the third period to dispatch the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights 5-4 at the Civic Auditorium. Peoria is now 9-0-0-0 all time in Omaha.

The Knights took the first lead of the game with a goal 14 minutes into the first period. After having his initial shot blocked, David Van der Gulik recovered the puck and fired a quick shot past Chris Beckford-Tseu to the stick side.

The Rivermen countered with 1:18 remaining in the first period. Circling out of the corner, Jon DiSalvatore found Trent Whitfield alone in the slot. He blasted a shot to the top corner.

The Rivermen would take the lead with a power play goal early in the second period. An errant clearing attempt was intercepted by Yan Stastny, who put the puck through the legs of Curtis McElhinney for a 2-1 advantage.

Brandon Prust would even the game, scoring his fourth goal in four games. Prust deflected a point shot from Kris Chucko with 9:26 left in the period.

The Rivermen got into penalty trouble early in the third period, and the Knights made the most of it. While on a two-man advantage, Carsen Germyn fired home a pass from Brad Ference at 3:05. The Knights would double their lead with another power play goal just 24 seconds later. Germyn and Ference would team up a second time for Germyn's second goal of the game to make the score 4-2. Chris Lee earned assists on both goals.

A lucky bounce got Peoria going again. DiSalvatore's shot from the slot ricocheted in off the leg of Kevin Croxton to make it 4-3. Peoria would tie the game with a short-handed goal. On a three-on-two rush, Cam Keith spotted Doug Lynch who beat McElhinney stick side for his first goal of the year.

Michal Birner completed the Rivermen comeback at the 17:57 mark of the third period beating McElhinney off a feed from Whitfield.

The Knights are now 39-22-4-1. They have now given up five goals in back to back games.

The Ak-Sar-Ben Knights complete their three-game home stand Wednesday when the Milwaukee Admirals make their final regular season appearance to the Civic Auditorium. Game time is 7:00 p.m. The Knights will then embark on a four-game road trip starting Saturday, March 24th in Houston.
