Rivermen Release Cook; Sign Levine Between the Pipes

Peoria Rivermen head coach Jean-Guy Trudel has announced that No. 1 goaltender Phil Cook has been released. In addition, the Rivermen have signed rookie goaltender Eric Levine, who was with ECHL Toledo until his release there Wednesday.
Cook, 25, appeared in three of Peoria's four games this season and notched a record of 1-1-0, including his first professional win against Bloomington on Oct. 25.
The Wheaton, Illinois native also compiled a 4.83 goals against average (GAA) and a save percentage of .833. He was pulled from back-to-back starts at home prior to his release.
Levine, 25, spent the last four seasons between the pipes at Robert Morris University - Pittsburgh (NCAA Div. I). Over 72 collegiate games, Levine combined for a 30-22-11 record along with a 2.90 GAA and a .925 saves rate.
Last season, the Wheeling, Illinois native appeared in 35 games as a senior and posted 19 wins with a 2.55 GAA and a .929 save percentage.
The 6'3, 180-pound netminder attended training camp with the Toledo Walleye (ECHL), where he made the team but did not make an appearance during the regular season. However, Levine comes to Peoria highly recommended by Toledo head coach and former Rivermen goaltender Nick Vitucci. He is expected to play this weekend.
