Peoria Rivermen News Release

DEFENSIVE FIREPOWER

Rivermen defensemen Brandon Greenside and Dave Pszenyczny enter play tonight among the league's best offensive threats from the blue line, with Greenside's 30 assists leading all SPHL blueliners and his +28 rating leading all skaters, while Pszenyczny's 11 goals lead all SPHL defensemen for the season. Greenside remains the only Rivermen player to skate in every game this season, and Pszenyczny has tallied 26 points in just 33 games since joining the Rivermen in late December.

WILLY'S RETURN

Last Saturday's 3-0 Rivermen win in Knoxville marked the return to the lineup of Peoria winger Chris Wilson after a stint on the 30-day Injured Reserve. Before being placed on IR in late February, Wilson was Peoria's scoring leader with 39 points on 20 goals and 19 assists in just 39 games this season. Since being acquired in a late November trade with Louisiana, the SPHL's 2010-11 Rookie of the Year has notched 35 points in 32 games in a Peoria uniform, including a goal and an assist in four games against the Cottonmouths this season. For his professional career, Wilson has tallied 263 points (128g, 135a) in 52 regular season games, and he has posted 15 career game-winning goals, including four this year for Peoria.

THE WHOLE SHOOTING MATCH

The Rivermen enter play tonight second in the SPHL at 33.77 shots on goal per game, and out-shooting opponents by 1790-1622 for the season, including 625-502 in the first period of games this season. The Rivermen also enter play tonight out-scoring their foes 68-31 in the first 20 minutes of games this season, each representing the widest such margin for any SPHL team in any period this season. When out-shooting opponents this season, the Rivermen are 24-6-1, and when leading after one period, Peoria is 25-5-1.

WHAT'S AHEAD

After tonight's game the Rivermen and Cottonmouths will conclude their regular seasons tomorrow and Saturday at Carver Arena before the Rivermen being the first round of the SPHL President's Cup playoffs next season. The Rivermen will play Game 1 of the first round at either Macon or Louisiana next Wednesday, then game 2 will be played next Friday at Peoria's Owens Center. Game 3, if needed, will be played at Owens Center next Saturday.
