LAST TIME OUT: The Mississippi RiverKings defeated the Pensacola Ice Flyers on Saturday, October 22nd during the squad's home opener in front of 6,287 fans inside of the Desoto Civic Center. Despite trailing 3-2 after two periods of play, the RiverKings used a balanced attack and scored three unanswered goals in the final frame to win 5-3. Mike Tuomi will go down in the record books having scored the first goal of the 20th Anniversary Season and the first goal for a player in a RiverKings uniform since the move to the SPHL. Nick Vandenbeld had the other first period goal and Rob Sich, Kyle Lundale, and Darrell Stoddard accounted for the final tallies in the third period. Jeff Topiko, Jordan Chong, and Mike Carter comprised the offensive attack for the Ice Flyers.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE: The next time the RiverKings hit the ice will be this Friday, October 28th at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum, as they take on the Knoxville Ice Bears who are also in the midst of their own Anniversary Season with this being their 10th year of operations. Game time for that contest will be 7:35 CST. The RiverKings will finish out the week at home on Saturday, October 29th at 7:05 p.m. against the same Knoxville Ice Bears. It will be 'Pink at the Rink" for that contest, featuring limited addition pink jerseys that will be auctioned off following the conclusion of the game. BROADCAST SCHEDULE: Both games this weekend will be carried live on America One and Radio Memphis with the pregame show on Friday starting at 7:15 CST and on Saturday starting at 6:45 CST. RIVERKINGS STATISTICAL LEADERS: Team Captain Darrell Stoddard, Nick Vandenbeld, and Mike Tuomi currently lead the RiverKings with 2 points after each player had a goal and an assist in the first game of the season. Scott Darling earned his first win on the season, making 27 saves on 30 shots for a 3.00 Goals Against Average (GAA) and a .900 save percentage.
